Introducing the Patient Context Bar

We love making improvements for the teams who use PawthosX every day. Sometimes that means introducing new capabilities. Other times, it means bringing existing features together, simplifying navigation, or retiring parts of the platform that no longer need to exist separately.

We're excited to share several improvements coming to PawthosX One, starting with our new Patient Context Bar.

The Patient Context Bar brings the information you need directly into your clinical workspace, without requiring you to leave what you're working on.

You'll have quick access to:

  • Patient information and alerts — Important patient details, weight, and medical considerations.

  • Medical history and problems — Previous visits, clinical history, and ongoing concerns.

  • Medications, vaccinations, and labs — Review records and access relevant clinical information.

  • Upcoming care — Scheduled appointments, reminders, and follow-ups.

  • Financial information — Balances, outstanding invoices, credits, and account details.

These aren't simply shortcuts. The Context Bar gives you the ability to open, review, and interact with information directly within your workspace, with options to navigate into the full record when needed.

The information previously accessed through the EMR page is being brought directly into Flow through the Context Bar.

One centralized clinical workspace: EMR + Flow

With patient records now accessible directly from the Context Bar, we've made the decision to retire the standalone EMR page.

We expect this transition to take place over approximately the next 30 days.

Once complete, selecting EMR will bring you directly into Flow, which will serve as your centralized visit workspace.

All the patient information and functionality you've come to expect will remain available, but with more direct navigation and fewer steps between tasks.

As part of this transition:

  • InFlow will move into the Patient Medical Record.

  • Journey Map may be relocated or removed as we continue evaluating how it best fits into the updated workflows.

  • Flow will become the central destination for clinical visits, documentation, patient context, and related actions.

The goal is simple: fewer separate destinations and a more connected experience.

Smarter search is on the way

We're also making improvements to search throughout PawthosX One.

This includes better matching, more advanced search capabilities, and improvements to how results are identified and presented.

And we hear you!

One request we've heard is the ability to search for a client or patient in a single field, rather than having to choose between the two before searching.

We're working toward a unified client and patient search across workflows such as Medication Requests and other areas where separate selections currently create unnecessary steps.

We want finding the right information to feel natural, whether you're searching for a patient, a client, or something within their records.

Also in development: Retro Mode

We're excited to share another feature currently in development: Retro Mode.

We know that different teams, and even different people within the same practice, have different preferences for how they navigate and interact with their software.

Our modern PawthosX experience is designed around connected workflows, contextual information, and a more focused clinical workspace.

Retro Mode will offer an alternative: a familiar, traditional practice management layout with more information visible on screen, classic navigation patterns, and a comfortable, information-rich workspace.

But it's still PawthosX One.

Same platform. Same capabilities. Same connected records. Your preferred experience.

Retro Mode won't replace the modern interface. It will give users another way to experience everything PawthosX One has to offer.

Always improving, together

We know changes to everyday workflows matter. That's why we're continuing to listen, refine, and make thoughtful improvements that help teams spend less time navigating software and more time caring for patients.

Some of these improvements are already taking shape, while others are still in development. We'll share more details as they get closer to release.

Thank you for continuing to share your feedback and helping us shape PawthosX One.
